WHEN CONSCIENCE DEFEATS CORRUPTION: A CALL FOR INTEGRITY IN AGULU AND ENTIRE ANAMBRA STATE BY OLUCHI OPARA

I came across a deeply disturbing report alleging that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has directed his men to ensure that Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, loses in his hometown, Agulu, through vote-buying and other underhanded tactics.

 

If these claims are true, then it is truly heartbreaking. It shows how far some leaders are willing to go, not to serve, but to suppress the will of the people. Using public funds meant for development to buy votes is one of the greatest betrayals of trust and a mockery of democracy.

 

Personally, I don’t believe Mr. Peter Obi is Governor Soludo’s real problem. What seems evident is a deep-seated inferiority complex disguised as political rivalry. When a leader truly performs, securing lives and property, building infrastructure, and driving genuine development there should be no reason to fear losing to anyone, not even Peter Obi in Agulu. If performance speaks for itself, there would be no need for desperation or propaganda. The people’s verdict naturally follows good governance.

 

Politics should never be reduced to a game of money or intimidation. It should be about ideas, vision, and genuine service to the people. Leadership must be earned through credibility, not purchased with cash. No matter how much is spent, true love and respect from the people cannot be bought.

 

Peter Obi’s record of integrity, humility, and purposeful leadership speaks louder than any propaganda or inducement. Trying to humiliate such a man, especially in his hometown, only exposes fear and desperation, not strength.

 

To my brothers and sisters in Agulu and across Anambra, I appeal to your conscience: do not trade your dignity and the future of your children for ₦50,000 or any amount of money. Remember that those who try to buy your vote are not offering you help, rather they are simply paying for your silence tomorrow. Be part of that positive change we all seek, not just in Anambra State but in Nigeria as a whole.

 

Elections come and go, but our choices shape the destiny of our land. Let November 8th be remembered as the day when truth prevailed over lies, and conscience triumphed over greed. Let us guard our votes, our values, and our future with courage and unity.

 

History will not forget those who stood firm for justice, truth, and democracy when it mattered most.
