WHY WE KILLED LATE OYO LAWMAKER, BY ARMED ROBBERS

Contrary to widespread insinuations that the sole Labour Party member in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Gideon Aremu was assassinated on July 1, 2016 in Ibadan, one of the four suspects arrested by the Oyo State Police Command, Ayobami Adedeji, Monday said that he and three other suspects only went to Adegbayi area to rob when they happened to sight the lawmaker and decided to rob him.
The suspect said that he and others now at large including: Abbey, Kola Mission and Yusuf Ikire, intentionally left Beere area and went out to rob some households at Adegbayi area of Ibadan where the deceased was residing.
The principal suspect, Ayobami Adedeji (23) of Gbongan Town in Osun ‎State, said that they had no any prior knowledge of identity of the deceased lawmaker till they saw him, disclosing that: “We just left Beere area to go and carry out our usual operation and upon sighting the honourable, we attacked him and one of us, Abbey, had to shoot when the lawmaker flashed a torchlight at us in order to identify us”.
Ayobami made the confession at the Eleyele Police Headquarters, Ibadan where he and three others were paraded by the Police Commissioner, Leye Oyebade. He nevertheless added that Abbey’s mother has a house around the area of attack.
Expatiating further, Ayobami said: “We were not sent by anybody to go and kill him. We were only there to rob him but to my surprise he was killed by my friend, Abbey who invited us for the job and the rest now at large. I was the only one arrested for the crime. I will assist the police with the necessary information on our hide out so it can be easier for them to arrest the rest of my friends in crime”.
