ZAMFARA GOVT TO BUY POLICE PATROL VEHICLES FOR NIGER REPUBLIC POLICE

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed has pledged to donate five Operational vehicles to the Police in Maradi, Niger Republic.

It is with a view to manning the border areas between Nigeria and Maradi, Niger Republic.

The donation is part of the Governor’s determination to continue to explore ways to a lasting security and sustainable peace in the state.

Governor Mohammed made the pledged while hosting the Prime Minister of Niger Republic, Brigi Refini on courtesy visit, to discuss how Zamfara State can collaborate with Niger Republic, to end the prevailing insecurity.

The visit of the Prime Minister of Niger Republic to Zamfara State was to form a synergy, towards fighting the criminals in a unified direction.

This is because, banditry and terrorism, such as Boko Haram are not peculiar to Nigeria alone, but also Niger Republic.

Refini says the efforts of Governor Bello Mohammed of Zamfara State is commendable, stressing that such co-operation will bring new ideas and understanding on how to collectively end the criminal activities.

Governor Mohammed says, he has decided to assist with five operational vehicles for surveillance, in addition to the drones the state has already given to the border security of Niger, to cut off supply of weapons to the criminal elements.

He says he is aware that due to the pressure, those who smuggle weapons into Nigeria on vehicles now have resorted to the use of camels.

He assures that the synergy will help in greater measure to flush out recalcitrant bandits and restore peace which will enable economic activities to thrive again in the state and beyond.

Present during the visit were the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Barrister Mahadi Gusau, Secretary to the State Government, Bala Maru, the Inspector General of Police, represented by his Deputy in charge of Operations, among other Government officials.
