LEKE BAIYEWU The House of Representatives is considering the proper definitions for Abuja and the Federal Capital Territory in the 1999 Constitution. A bill seeking to differentiate the two locations passed first reading at the House on Tuesday. Abuja is the capital of Nigeria while it is used interchangeably with the Federal Capital Territory. Flood, arising from a downpour on Saturday, has submerged more than 20 buildings in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. The flood caused by rain that started from Friday night to early hours of Saturday also submerged Gwagwalada bridge and a hotel. A NAN correspondent, who visited the flooded areas, observed that the flood had taken over Gwagwalada bridge linking Abuja to Lokoja. KIDNAPPERS KILL 3 IN ABUJA SUBURB

Three persons were killed yesterday in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The victims were kidnapped by gunmen in Yambabu Community on Saturday but were killed by their abductors. FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, confirmed this yesterday. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued seven days ultimatum to owners of mechanic workshops, automobile dealers and other traders along the Apo road corridor to vacate.
